Ruth Beer Bletzinger of RuthieLine Jewelry Designs loves jewelry and loves designing and making it. But, most of all, she loves seeing someone take delight in wearing a piece that she’s created. Her aim is to make necklaces, earrings, bracelets, pins, and rings that are stylish, yet unexpected, so that the wearer feels special.
Textured sterling silver features prominently in Ruth’s designs, with forms that often curve and find balance in asymmetry. Things that curve and snake around intrigue her, probably the result of her fascination with dance. As she says, “There's something both graceful and edgy in metal forms that arc, twist, and spiral, whether on their own or combined with stones or touches of gold. I also use a range of techniques to create texture, depth, and contrast. What a joy!”
This is Ruth’s fifth year at the Takoma Park Folk Festival. She’s very excited to be once again among the wonderful artists and musicians participating.
