And the winner is...
We are excited to announce Pamela Joy Trow as the winner of the 2026 Takoma Park Folk Festival design contest!
Pamela Joy Trow is a multidisciplinary artist known for her vivid color palette, intricate detail, and imaginative themes. With a background in graphic design, illustration, and creative direction, she brings a storyteller’s eye to everything she creates — from expressive paintings to thoughtfully designed paper goods.
After years crafting campaigns for businesses and nonprofits, Pamela launched The Art of Pamela Joy Trow in 2008. Her original artwork is transformed into prints, greeting cards, bookmarks, stickers, and paper goods, featuring mermaids, sugar skulls, and mythic motifs — serving both retail and wholesale clients.
Her work, spanning acrylic & ink, digital art, and fiber, reflects the many places she’s called home: the mythologies of Brooklyn, the cultural energy of Atlanta, the nature of Bend, Oregon, the Day of the Dead traditions of Santa Fe, and the marine fantasy of Florida’s Gulf Coast.

An experienced educator, Pamela has taught at The Portfolio Center, The Art Institute of Atlanta, and Central Oregon Community College. She is the creator of Getting Your Art Into Retail Environments, a workshop series equipping artists with tools to expand their practice into product-based sales. While serving as chair of the Bend Arts, Culture & Beautification Commission, she launched City Walls at City Hall, a community art initiative bridging artists, businesses, and civic life. She also serves as a remote member of the Zodiac Committee at The Dalí Museum in St. Petersburg, Florida, supporting the Museum’s mission and building community through the arts.
Now rooted in Maryland, Pamela is stepping into a bold new chapter — deepening her creative practice, connecting with the local arts scene, and bringing fresh inspiration to her independent studio and global paper-based business.
