June 16 Special Event: Now & Then: A Celebration of the 40th Anniversary of the Takoma Park Folk
“Now and Then” is a multi-media presentation that celebrates the music, mission, and history of the renowned Takoma Park Folk Festival. Please join Festival musicians and organizers on Saturday June 16 to celebrate the Festival’s 40th Anniversary and to honor its legacy as one of Takoma Park’s most cherished cultural institutions.
For four decades, Takoma Park residents and Washington area music lovers have gathered on a Sunday afternoon in September to enjoy music, crafts, food, community tables, fun for kids, and a great afternoon with friends old and new. Thousands of wonderful musicians and other performers have graced the Festival’s many stages over the years. Proceeds from the Festival have always circled back to support local community organizations. And the fact that the Festival has survived as an all-volunteer effort for four decades makes it all the more amazing!
So please join us on Saturday June 16 at 2 pm for an inspiring afternoon of special live performances by Festival musicians, and find out more about the unique history of one of Takoma Park’s most enduring and beloved cultural traditions.
